There's a busy jazz line-up at the Other Palace, PizzaExpress Live, Soho and Holborn and St John's Smith Square as part of promoter's JBGB Events autumn programme. The eclectic modern and mainstream jazz roster kicks off with vocalist Noel McCalla and saxophonist Derek Nash's soulful jazz celebration of Stevie Wonder, with 'Some Kind Of Wonderful' (PizzaExpress, Live Holborn, 3 Oct), followed closely by the virtuosic pairing of reeds man Alan Barnes and pianist David Newton, who celebrate 40 years of working together (PizzaExpress, Live Soho, 14 Oct).

Highlights of the Other Palace EFG London Jazz Festival programme include vocalist Tina May (17 Nov); a piano summit of Nikki Iles, David Newton, James Pearson, Jason Rebello, Jim Watson and Gareth Williams all jousting on two pianos (3pm, 17 Nov); fiery saxophonist Dave O'Higgins' Quartet (23 Nov) and the storming flute-led Gareth Lockrane Big Band (24 Nov). Further dates include Big Band Bash with Down For The Count Swing (16 Nov); Phil DeGreg with Alan Barnes (18 Nov); Tom Green Septet (19 Nov); Chris Ingham's REBOP play Davis, Coltrane & Adderley (20 Nov); Freddie Gavita Quartet (21 Nov) and Joanna Eden Latin Experience (22 Nov).

The season concludes in the architectural splendour of St John's Smith Square with two top jazz-vocal nights, the first featuring Liane Carroll & Claire Martin (pictured, 24 Nov), the second with singer Joe Stilgoe and his Mighty Band (25 Nov).
