Universal Classics and Jazz, has been renamed Decca to better reflect its widening repertoire, according to the company. With a market share of 55 per cent UCJ marketed Universal Music's classical and jazz repertoire in the UK. The renamed company will be rebranded using the Decca “black” logo, the original marque of artists such as the Rolling Stones and Tom Jones. The newly renamed company will market Universal Music labels Deutsche Grammophon, Verve, the Decca “red and blue” classical imprint and Rounder. New Decca managing director Dickon Stainer, who ran UCJ, says: “We are delighted to rename UCJ under the historic Decca marque which reflects the growing diversity and ambition of our company.” The name Decca was first used as a record label in 1929.
