The Live Box tour kicks off next month with performances from Robert Mitchell, Femi Temowo and Anthony Joseph. The tour will continue over the coming months in venues around Birmingham. Poet and musician Anthony Joseph will open the tour with a free taster gig on 12 September with his Spasm Band in Centenary Square, playing Caribbean rhythms, free jazz-rock and funk. Joseph and his band will also return the following day at the Drum in Aston at 7.45pm. Other musicians booked to perform on the tour include highly rated guitarist Femi Temowo who has worked extensively with Soweto Kinch. Temowo will perform at the Hare & Hounds, Kings Heath on 18 October at 7.45pm (tickets are a fiver). Pianist Robert Mitchell is also slated to appear on the Live Box tour. The former J-Life and Steve Coleman pianist and his band 3io won the award for best jazz album at the Gilles Peterson Worldwide awards earlier this year. He will play at the Drum on 25 October at 7.45pm. Soweto Kinch, creative director of Live Box, is to host the tour and will also perform later in the year.
