Glasgow is to play host to the annual Europe Jazz Network conference on 24-26 September. The three-day conference will be held in the Royal Concert Hall and will welcome guests from all over Europe. The conference will be complemented with a busy programme of performances allowing delegates a snapshot of the vibrant music and arts scene in the city.

Taking part on 24 September are Stu Brown’s Raymond Scott Project, Tom Cawley’s Curios, local trumpeter Ryan Quigley’s Sextet plus punky noise merchants Get The Blessing. The following day  sees performances by barnstorming singer Liane Carroll, virtuoso trio Neon featuring Stan Sulzmann, with pianist Gwilym Simcock and vibes star Jim Hart, as well as a performance by the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra with pianist Brian Kellock. The closing day 26 September features Phil Bancroft’s Home, Small As The World, newly formed Tomorrow’s Warriors offshoot Rhythmica featuring rising tenor talent Zem Audu, plus thrilling Leeds thrash jazzers Trio VD and Paul Towndrow’s Newology.

Jill Rodger, director of the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, says: “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase the very best in Scottish and British jazz. This is a really important event for our local talent to exploit with a global platform brought to their doorstep. The board of the festival and the Scottish jazz community in general are delighted that the EJN has chosen to hold their conference here and we are looking forward to demonstrating just how much Glasgow in particular has to offer.”

The EJN was founded in 1987 and is a Europe-wide association of producers, presenters and supporting organisations who specialise in creative music, contemporary jazz and improvised music created from a distinctly European perspective, according to the organisation's mission statement. The membership includes 69 organisations including festivals, clubs and concert venues, independent promoters and national organisations in 23 European countries.
