The long-running Marsden Jazz Festival begins later today and runs until Sunday at various venues around the small Yorkshire town. The main concerts this year are priced at £4 per gig, while many other gigs are free. Today features Georgie Fame at 8pm at Marsden Mechanics (already sold out), Ben Crosland Quintet with Jim Hart (8.30pm, Royal British Legion) and Tasq (8.30pm, The Railway Inn). Tomorrow sees Ruby Wood’s Loopology (6pm, Royal British Legion), Graham Garside (6pm, The Railway Inn), Iain Ballamy masterclass (4pm, Marsden Conservative Club), If Destroyed Still True (4pm, Royal British Legion), The Nicolas Meier Group (4pm, Marsden Mechanics), Rod Mason’s Elements (4pm, Marsden Socialist Club), Trio VD (2pm, Royal British Legion), Lee Jones Trio (1pm, The Riverhead Brewery Tap), Blink (12:30pm, Marsden Mechanics) and Ian Shaw (8pm, Marsden Mechanics).
