Jazz breaking news: New Electro Jazz Ensemble Formed By Guillemots Member Go On Tour |

A new electro jazz outfit, Gannets, formed by a member of experimental indie rock group the Guillemots, are playing UK dates this month. Led by bass clarinettist Chris Cundy and featuring keyboardist Fyfe Dangerfield of the Mercury-nominated Guillemots, the group perform their own brand of experimental improvised music and also include bassist Dominic Lash, drummer Steve Noble and clarinettist Alex Ward. As individuals they have been immersed in the free improvisation scene for some time, most notably Ward who was discovered by the late guitar legend Derek Bailey aged just 14. The self taught Cundy who began his career as a street busker in his teens has gone on to perform with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and the Resonance Radio Orchestra. Dates are: The Yacht Club London (tonight, 7 Dec); The Croft Bristol (14 Dec); The Slak Bar Cheltenham (15 Dec) and The Hare and Hounds Birmingham (16 Dec).
