Iconic and influential Norwegian trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer (left) releases a new album in February and makes a dramatic return to the live circuit with a dazzling new show that features a state of the art lighting rig.
The new album, Hamada, that came out in Europe earlier this year on Emarcy, builds upon the glacial soundscapes and crystalline electronics that hark back to his groundbreaking ECM debut Khmer, and features guitarist Eivind Arset, drummer Audun Kleive and sampler Jan Bang. For his UK dates Molvaer’s band will include guitarist Stian Westerhus and Kleive. Dates include St George’s, Bristol (18 Feb); The Sage, Gateshead (21 Feb); Queen Elizabeth Hall, London (22 Feb); College Of Music, Leeds (23 Feb); Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal (24 Feb); Band On The Wall, Manchester (25 Feb); Hare & Hounds, Birmingham (26 Feb) and Turner Sims Hall, Southampton (27 Feb).
