Making one of the most assured and melodically potent debuts last year with his album Kairos Moment, London-based tenor and soprano saxophonist Adam Waldmann takes his fresh-faced Kairos 4Tet out across the UK for an extensive tour this month and next. Joined by a highly adept rhythm section of powerful Danish bassist Jasper Høiby and drummer Jon Scott along with pianist Rob Barron, Waldmann’s blend of strong narrative melodies and deft harmonic sense makes for a winning combination in the live setting. The group will be joined by bewitching young singer Emilia Martensson, at their Rich Mix gig, with dates announced so far including Colchester Arts Centre (tomorrow, 3 Feb); Rich Mix, London (4 Feb); Symphony Hall Foyer, Birmingham (5 Feb); Clare College, Cambridge (7 Feb); Jazz at Dempsey’s, Cardiff (9 Feb); The Spin, Oxford (11 Feb); The Future Inn, Bristol (14 Feb); Matt & Phred’s, Manchester (15); 606 Club, London (24 Mar) and The Cluny, Newcastle (30 Mar).
