Naim records have signed the Neil Cowley Trio and are set to release their first album for the label titled Radio Silence at the end of April. The trio – pianist Neil Cowley, bassist Richard Sadler and drummer Evan Jenkins – have enjoyed considerable success with their previous two albums and won BBC Jazz Album of the Year for their debut Displaced. The trio will embark on an extensive tour to support the album and will play new material at the Phoenix Festival in Exeter on 21 March before the tour kicks off in earnest in May. Simon Drake of Naim says: “Neil Cowley isn’t just the uber-talented bastion of instrumental trio music we expect him to be. He’s also the most down to earth, restlessly inspired and musically assured British pianist out there. Neil shares our obsessive passion for creating a faultless sonic portrait and it is an absolute honour to be releasing his new album.”
