Birmingham hosts an ambitious new festival, the Mostly Jazz festival, on 3 and 4 July set to be held in the city’s Mosely Park. Open-air and on one site the festival organisers have booked a strong line-up headed by the Sun Ra Arkestra and Courtney Pine with Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro, Cymande All-Stars, James Taylor Quartet, Polar Bear, Portico Quartet, Led Bib, and Birmingham jazz legend Andy Hamilton with his group The Blue Notes also on the bill. There will be two stages at the festival with one dedicated to new talent booked by Birmingham jazz club the Yardbird on the Saturday and local promoter Birmingham Jazz on the Sunday. There will also be films, artist talks, music workshops, jazz dance performances, live comedy and spoken word. Adult day tickets cost £28.50 and weekend tickets cost £48.50.
