Jazz breaking news: London Awards for Art and Performance Recognise Capital's Jazz Talent |

The nominees for London Jazz Instrumentalist and London Jazz Singer of the year have been announced at this year's London Awards for Art and Performance alongside 10 other categories recognising talent within the capital's vibrant arts scene. The jazz awards are one of several in the London Festival Fringe 2010 and were arranged by the Global Music Foundation. Chosen by a panel of jazz musicians and jazz professionals the list of nominees for the London Jazz Instrumentalist 2010 Award is: Andrew McCormack (piano) Derek Nash (sax) Gareth Lockrane (flute) Gary Crosby (bass) Gary Husband (piano/drums) Henry Lowther (trumpet) John Turville (piano) Kit Downes (piano) Mark Lockheart (sax) Patrick Bettison (bass) Patrick Clahar (sax) Ross Stanley (piano) Steve Melling (piano) While the list for the London Jazz Vocalist 2010 Award is: Christine Tobin Cleveland Watkiss Emma Smith Fini Bearman Georgia Mancio Ian Shaw Liane Carroll Nia Lynn Norma Winstone Sarah Gillespie Tammy Weis The awards will be announced at a special evening of music at the Pizza Express Jazz Club on Dean Street, Soho on 16 August - click here for more info on the awards.
