Her armful of Parliamentary, BASCA and Herald Angel awards, as well as her 10 solo albums to date have more than proved her to be among the UK's very best. Now realising her ambition to live and work in New York, she's back with a new album, Pelt, a striking genre-hopping collection of songs featuring the verse of acclaimed Irish poet Paul Muldoon artfully set to an ever-shifting score. Peter Quinn spoke to the Irish-born singer songwriter about this challenging process and sought out the reasons behind her move to the birthplace of modern jazz
