The Bath Music Festival has pulled out all the stops for its jazz programming this year, adding high profile Americans to the usual rich mix of European and UK bands. The main jazz weekend running from 23 May to 25 May features a double bill on the Saturday afternoon with award-winning Serbian pianist Bojan Z plus the Mercury-nominated Portico Quartet, making its debut in Bath. The evening show features funk superstar Maceo Parker with his band featuring leading British trombonist Dennis Rollins. BBC Radio Three’s Jazz Line-Up also broadcasts on the Saturday featuring Abram Wilson and then on the Sunday there’s Dave Holland’s Quintet supported by the Dan Stern band. Bath has also booked the Branford Marsalis Quartet on the bank holiday Monday, leading Swedish pianist Bobo Stenson, Empirical and Sibongile Khumalo.
