If you’re looking to hear some live jazz this Easter weekend, Oxford could well be the place for you. The Oxford Jazz Festival is featuring great British names, such as Bobby Wellins (The Spin Jazz Club, 9 April, 8.30pm); Julian Siegel (Jacqueline du Pré Music Building, 10 April, 8.30pm); Gwyneth Herbert (North Wall Arts Centre, 11 April, 8.30) and John Etheridge (SAE Institute, 12 April, 3pm), with a packed programme each day across the city. As well as some great gigs, there will also be other jazz-related events, including the Jazzfactor competition (St Hugh’s College, 10 April 10.30am-5pm) and an art exhibition from local painter Ed Stokes at the Big Bang restaurant. If you can’t make it to Oxford, there is plenty of jazz up and down the country from the likes of the Asaf Sirkis Trio (Komedia Studio Bar, Brighton, 10 April); Bilbao Syndrome (Gasworks Bar, Bradford, 10 April); Alex Garnett Quartet (606 Club, London, 11 April) and Pat Martino (Ronnie Scott’s, London 9-11 April).
