This year’s Brecon Jazz Festival, which runs from Friday 12 August to Sunday 14 August, is shaping up to be the biggest in years with the news that Monty Alexander, Allen Toussaint and Femi Kuti & The Positive Force have been added as headliners while Maceo Parker will play a special concert with the BBC Big Band. The festival, which was successfully relaunched by the Hay Festival team last year, exclusively announced its initial roster in Jazzwise last month, including Courtney Pine, John Surman, the Robert Glasper Experiment, The Core, Mathew Herbert Big Band and Polar Bear. Held in the market town of Brecon high in the Brecon Beacons in Powys, Wales, the main focus is set around the stages and market area of the Christ College campus as well as the Town Hall and cathedral stages. Other names added include Clare Teal, Yaron Herman Trio, Gilad Atzmon and The Orient House Ensemble, Alice Russell, Sara Mitra, The Hidden Orchestra and Christian Prommer. – Jon Newey Tickets go on sale from 10 May.
