Glasgow Jazz Festival01/04/05 There's a new dawn breaking at the Royal Bank Glasgow Jazz Festival this year, with an expanded programme and fresh ideas. The dates for the event see a shift forward by two weeks from its regular place on the calendar with it due to run from 17-26 June. Following the departure of festival director Olive Millen last year the festival is now programmed by Jill Rodger and plans for this year involve around 120 gigs at venues such as the Clyde Auditorium, the Spiegeltent and CCA as well as outdoors events and a riverboat shuffle on the Clyde. One key element of the festival this year is a three day strand called Home Grown that will showcase unsigned Scottish acts, part of an effort to give the city's jazz scene the exposure local rock groups such as Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol and Belle and Sebastian have achieved over the last three years. The line up announced so far is: Georgie Fame (17 June), Kyle Eastwood (18 June), Niki King and Marcus Ford with Trio (19 June), Tommy Smith and Brian Kellock (20 June), Acoustic Ladyland (21 June), Fred Frith (21 June), The Soft Machine Legacy (22 June), Dionne Warwick (22 June), Courtney Pine (24 June), Anthony Braxton (24 June), Clare Teal (25 June), John Surman (25 June) and Gary Burton (26 June).
