Mercury Prize deadline

Always the bridesmaid and never the bride at the Mercury Prize, the most credible UK music award, independent jazz record labels have nonetheless seen success in having their acts appearing on the short list for the prize over the years. Denys Baptiste, Guy Barker and Soweto Kinch have been nominated in recent years. The organisers will be e-mailing out entry forms in mid-May, says Kevin Milburn, director of the Mercury Prize. To ensure record companies receive one and are on the Mercury Prize database they should e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with details of the name of their label, and the name of the artist and album title they wish to enter for the Prize. To be eligible albums need to be by UK or Irish artists and have been released between 20 July 2004 and 18 July 2005. The closing date for entries is 26 May.
