Abdullah Ibrahim and F-IRE go way out west

The Bath Jazz Weekend takes place, within the overall Bath Music Festival, on 26-30 May. One highlight is a Contemporary Music Network showcase of forthcoming shows plus a UK showcase sponsored by the Performing Rights Society Foundation. There is also a Dutch strand that includes the return of pianist and composer Misha Mengelberg. Jazz on 3, BBC Radio 3's late night magazine show is again broadcasting live from the festival with a show on 28 May also recording concerts for subsequent broadcast. Nod Knowles, head of music at the Scottish Arts Council since 1998, and jazz programme director for Bath International Music Festival has been appointed chief executive of Bath Festivals Trust, taking over from Tim Joss.
