Leading Danish jazz bassist Chris Minh Doky is both an in-demand top-level sideman as well as a Platinum selling solo artist, he now releases his latest album The Nomad Diaries out now on Blue Note.
Having worked with a diverse range of artists that include David Sanborn, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Michele Camilo, Trilok Gurtu, Bireli Lagrene, John Scofield, Kenny Garrett most significantly he was Michael Brecker's regular bassist since 2000 until the great saxophonist's tragic death in 2007.
Doky's new solo album The Nomad Diaries showcases a new direction from the driving hard bop of his previous albums, as he creates a spacious sounding audio travelogue of broken beats and Nordic melodies, while literally recording the album as a sound diary from around the world. Jazzwise's Mike Flynn spoke to Chris about the new album, his longstanding friendship and work with Michael Brecker and his Yamaha Silent Bass.
