Boutté is a sassy down to earth mama who will do everything in her power to make you enjoy life in a classic New-Orleans style. She’s got the goods when it comes to strong voodoo medicine, bare footin’ and tales about a one-handed piano player (that’s not the start of some dirty joke, actually). She is most compelling as a mean blues singer with constant craving for stomping beats. But Boutté also delightfully delivers musical numbers and jazzy love songs, as if someone finally stole her heart. hailing from The Big Easy, “Ambassador Lillian” is committed to the preservation of New-Orleans’ cultural legacy and sheer existence. Her songs of hope and faith in need are inspiring, despite relying a bit too much on audience participation. Still, Boutté does prove that carrying a part hustler- part preacher persona will get you far in life and gets the job done. – Gabi Tartakovsky
